The Redwood Rhinos got a good effort from starter Josuke Okumura in defeating the Valley View Cougars at The Zoo. The final score was 4-1. Okumura, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 11, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. The win takes Redwood to 6-6.
In the bottom of the first, Dave Richards hit a 2-run triple for Redwood. The 1st triple of the season for the Redwood third baseman put the Rhinos on top, 2-0.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Richards told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
