The Crowley Cajuns had to overcome a big game from Hudsonville center fielder Marc Hayman to leave Hudsonville Park with a 5-4 victory. Hayman went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Ron Francis earned the win for Crowley. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 8 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 2-0. Crowley, now 7-1, is playing great baseball to start the year.

A critical at-bat came in the top of the seventh inning when the Cajuns sent 18-year-old second baseman Júlio Sahagún to the plate with runners on 1st and 3rd. The youngster shook off the pressure and reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run, to put Crowley on top, 5-3.

"I was a little disappointed," said Hudsonville manager Rickey Jones. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
