Ocasio Sizzles -- Smokes Outlaws for 5 Hits
|
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Gilberto Ocasio, it came around today.
The 26-year-old right fielder scattered hits all over Great Northern Field to pace the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC to a 22-6 victory over the Nashville Outlaws.
Nashville skipper Ryan Naylor told reporters in the press room that "Ocasio deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Ocasio hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Gilberto Ocasio grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
For the year Ocasio is batting .333 with 26 hits and 2 home runs. He has scored 9 times and driven in 12.
