Fans of the Crowley Cajuns who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Crowley win over the visiting Valley View Cougars, 9-5. Nick Joseph started for the home team against Steve Baker. John Ingham earned the coveted player of the game honors.

Early in the game, shortstop Juan Neváres had a 2-run double for Crowley. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Cajuns on top, 3-1.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Neváres.
