Guzzlers Suffer 3-1 Loss to Vandals
|
Eugene turned a good effort from starter Roland Peterson into a win over the Galesburg Guzzlers at Galesburg Field. The final score was 3-1. Peterson went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-5. Even with the win, the Vandals have a dismal 28-56 record.
One important at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the fifth inning. Facing Galesburg hurler Jorge Cambeiro, Claudio Vargas, who is tied for 8th in the PA in stolen bases with 14, drew a walk. The Vandals went on to win.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Eugene manager Roger Sánchez.
