Eugene designated hitter De-wei Chi was instrumental in his team's 13-8 win over the Galesburg Guzzlers. Chi went 3-5 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Vandals. Eugene, at 27-56, occupies last place in the Premier A.

The result might have been different for Eugene, had it not been for John Yossarian. The center fielder produced a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Vandals ahead, 9-6. For the game, Yossarian had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

Vandals manager Roger Sánchez wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
