Vandals Turn Back Delaware, 4-2

The Eugene Vandals got a strong performance from pitcher Eric Mason, who stymied the Delaware offense en route to a 4-2 win at The Riot Zone. Eugene is last in the Premier A with a record of 25-55.
The 1787 BC had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Vandals going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old center fielder Jorge Mejía came to the plate. Mejía hit a run-scoring single on a 2-2 fastball from Delaware hurler Thomas Sangrey. It was Mejía's 56th hit of the year.
In comments to the Eugene Times, Mejía admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
