Guzzlers Fall Short, 5-4, at Eugene
The Eugene Vandals racked up a win at The Riot Zone, bumping off the Galesburg Guzzlers, 5-4. Eric Mason, who started for Eugene, pitched effectively for his team. José Valdéz earned the save for Eugene, his 2nd. The Guzzlers fall to 4-8 and continue their wobbly start to the 2039 season.

In the bottom of the 7th, pinch hitter Abednego Ashpenaz gave Eugene the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Vandals had been trailing 4-3, but the two-out single off Galesburg pitcher Luis Freixa changed that -- and Eugene went on to win.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Mason. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
