The Charleston Battery defeated the Buffalo White Walkers, 5-4, at Charleston Armory. Charleston catcher Paco Muñóz was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Hildebrand Michielsen got the win, improving to 1-1. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up 1 run on 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 4. Rafael Rivera earned his 2nd save in 2 tries.
Muñóz came through with some timely hitting for Charleston. With the score 0-0 in the bottom of the fifth and no one down, Muñóz hit a 2-1 slider for a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season made it 2-0, Charleston.
"If we keep winning the close games," Muñóz said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
Losses have been few and far between for the White Walkers, who are now 7-3.
