Seahawks Solve Gold Sox, 4-3
|
The Myrtle Beach Seahawks picked up a win at Seahwaks Stadium, knocking off the Chicago Gold Sox, 4-3. Starting pitcher Clyde Sparks was an essential part of his team's success. In 6.1 innings, Sparks surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Annamaya Rakhi nailed down his 1st save.
Quincy Wass had a big 2-run single for the Seahawks in the bottom of the second inning. With Myrtle Beach leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Matt Elmore and stroked the single to center. It was his 2nd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Seahawks ahead, 4-0.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Sparks said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Seahawks raised their record to 3-1.
