Storm Solve Chiefs, 5-3
|
Syracuse and Caldwell duked it out at Pipers Ballpark and the Storm came out victorious.
Caldwell got a terrific game from right fielder Yong-hong Ren. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Syracuse, 5-3. Ren was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Syracuse reliever José Rivera was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Josh Brennan took the loss.
The outcome might have been different for Syracuse, had it not been for Rubén Plumey, the 23-year old center fielder . Plumey stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Syracuse up, 3-1. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Plumey said after the game.
Syracuse now sits in second place in the Silver A at 56-40.
