Storm Win at Caldwell, 5-1
|
Syracuse beat Caldwell on the strength of starter Greg Poe's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 5-1 win. Poe, the winner, moves to 8-10. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 4 walks. Tim Wallace notched his 2nd save in 2 chances.
It could have been a different outcome for Syracuse, had it not been for Charlie Yaeger, the 22-year old shortstop . Yaeger contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fourth inning to put Syracuse up, 2-0.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Yaeger.
Syracuse is second in the Silver A with a record of 55-39.
