Kawenaula Alohalani did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Laredo Hawks from losing, 3-2, to the Caldwell Chiefs at Pipers Ballpark. Alohalani was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs. Colton Moonfall earned his 17th save in 18 chances. Caldwell goes to 56-37. The win puts them 2 games up in their division.
Tied up with the Hawks in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Chiefs got a boost from first baseman Chris Owen. With a runner on 2nd, Owen saw a full count fastball from Sylvain Richard and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Caldwell on top, 3-2.
Owen said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
