Extra-Inning Win by Hawks over Arryns
|
The Hawks grabbed a win, 4-3, at Hawks Field, overcoming a fine effort from Lake Erie pitcher Don Murray. Murray went 6.2 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. The third-place Hawks now have a win-loss record of 49-38.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Paul Pitts came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Lake Erie pitcher Aleksandr Lovenetsky, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Laredo on top, 4-3.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Laredo skipper Lou Boone. "I can't complain."
