Airmen Come Back Late to Clip Expos
|
The Niagara Falls Expos got a sterling performance from pitcher Jorge Souza, but the Airmen still prevailed, 8-3. Souza was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. Alameda reliever Batu Khan picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-4. Virgil Cook was collared with the loss. The Airmen, at 44-40, sit in 5th place in the Silver A.
Rickey Warner had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the eighth. The Alameda center fielder came through with a 2-run double to put Alameda in front, 5-3.
"We maximized our offense today," said Alameda skipper Juan Alvarado. "That makes everyone's life easier."
