The Syracuse Storm beat the Laredo Hawks, 8-3, at Storm Park. The Storm got a fine performance from center fielder Nick McGhee, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Biff Pocoroba earned the save, his 7th, for the Storm. The third-place Storm improved to 46-37.

In the first inning, McGhee had a 2-run double for Syracuse. It was his 14th double of the season and put the Storm on top, 2-0.

"We're all smiles after that win," McGhee told the Syracuse Observer.
