Reapers Come Back Late, Nip Chiefs
|
Despite a fine performance by center fielder You-liang Yang, the Caldwell Chiefs suffered a 4-3 loss to the Grim Reapers. Yang was 3-4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. Grim reliever Charlie Bottari was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Rubén Medina took the loss. Gabriel Leeds nailed down his 12th save.
Grim used the timely hitting of Leonard Davis to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put the Reapers on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In comments to the Grim Daily News, Davis insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
Grim occupies third place in the Silver A at 44-35.
