Storm Saddle Vibes with 5-4 Loss
|
The Rocky Mountain Vibes got a superb performance from left fielder Earl McCarty. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Syracuse. The Storm won the game, 5-4. In spite of the loss, McCarty was named the player of the game. He slugged 2 home runs. Ed Lake earned the win for Syracuse. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 6-3. Picking up the save was Biff Pocoroba, his 3rd.
Syracuse relied on the hitting of Jong-yun Rhee to pick up the win. The designated hitter ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the first inning to put the Storm on top, 1-0. For the game, Rhee had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We did enough to win," said Rhee.
The Storm now have a record of 39-33.
