Loss Extends Mancelona Losing Streak
|
It was a good time at Pipers Ballpark, where fans came to watch the Mancelona Torch and Caldwell Chiefs get after it.
Caldwell beat Mancelona on the strength of starter Sanford Shades's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 2-1 win. Colton Moonfall picked up the save, his 2nd.
In the bottom of the fifth, Caldwell second baseman Yoshihito Kichikawa had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 2nd and one out, Kichikawa stroked a run-scoring single to right. It made the score 2-1, Caldwell. For the game, he went 1-4.
"Not to be Captain Obvious," said Mancelona manager Charles Schmidt, "but we need to push more runs across the plate."
The current losing streak for Mancelona has reached 7 games.
