Grim starter Nick Dalton pitched effectively against the Laredo Hawks at Hawks Field. The left-hander led his team to a 7-5 win. Dalton went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-0. The Reapers now own a record of 26-22.
Grim used the bat of Rick Crockett to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Reapers ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Grim manager Enrique Zumaya.
