Lake Erie pitcher Don Murray did his part in helping his team beat the Mancelona Torch, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Aleksandr Lovenetsky, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save. The Torch, now 13-25, have lost 5 straight.
Juan Núñez had a big 2-run single for the Arryns in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Lake Erie leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a cutter from Bryan Workman and stroked the single to left. It was his 41st hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Arryns ahead, 4-0.
"The beers will taste better tonight after this win," said the ever-candid Murray.
