The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC grabbed a 6-5 win over the San Mateo Dirty Reds at Great Northern Field. Thunder Bay left fielder An-te-hai Qing was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs to earn player of the game honors. Thunder Bay, at 3-0, is off to a blistering start.

Ramón Padilla went 1-2 with a double for Thunder Bay. The 25-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Yoshii Ikeda. It was his 2nd RBI of the season.

"If we keep winning the close games," Padilla said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
