Storm Deal Arryns Painful Loss
|
The Syracuse Storm and Lake Erie Arryns obliged those fans who came to Storm Park hoping for nail-biter.
The Syracuse Storm eked out a 2-1 win versus the Lake Erie Arryns at Storm Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Shawn Hanna, who captured player of the game honors. Syracuse reliever Miguel Pérez was credited with the win, to go to 3-0. Aleksandr Lovenetsky took the loss for Lake Erie.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Rick Newell came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Lake Erie pitcher Aleksandr Lovenetsky, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Syracuse on top, 2-1.
"It's a mindset," said Hanna. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
Syracuse has now won 3 straight, while the Arryns have lost 5 in a row.
