Smokies Drop River Rats, 6-3
|
It was a fun time at Smokies Stadium, where the Columbia River Rats and Tennessee Smokies tangled.
Tennessee center fielder Fraser Childs was instrumental in his team's 6-3 win over the Columbia River Rats. Childs, who is tied for 9th in the 3A in extra base hits with 30, went 3-3 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Smokies. The Smokies are now 41-45, while the River Rats fall to 42-44.
Childs was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once against the River Rats. With the game tied in the bottom of the third inning, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run that scored 1 and put Tennessee in front, 1-0.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Childs told reporters after the game.
