River Rats Get Road Win, 6-5
|
Tennessee second baseman Gonzalo Quintanilla had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Quintanilla was 3-4 with 3 singles. He scored 2 runs, even as Columbia beat the Smokies, 6-5. Quintanilla was named the player of the game despite the loss. António Morales was credited with the save for Columbia, his 3rd of the season. Columbia is now 42-43, Tennessee 40-45.
Jeff McNeice drew 3 walks for Columbia. The 22-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off Juan Franco. It was his 55th walk of the season.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said McNeice. "And not try to do too much."
