Put-In-Bay starter Mason Saunders pitched effectively against the Cape Coral Reefers at Put-In-Bay Ballpark. The right-hander led his team to a 4-2 win. Saunders, the winner, moves to 5-5. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 11 and giving up 2 walks. The BC now own a record of 36-37.
Lester Threlfall had a big run-scoring double for the BC in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Put-In-Bay leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a cutter from Lance Mascola and stroked the double to left. It was his 16th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the BC ahead, 3-1.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Saunders told the Put-In-Bay Citizen.
