Silver Sox Stymie Vancouver, Take 4-0 Win
|
The Chicago Silver Sox picked up a win at Silver Sox Park, knocking off the Vancouver Grey Wolves, 4-0. Starting pitcher Rhys Maskell, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Chicago has now won 3 straight, while the Grey Wolves have lost 3 in a row.
Gerrie Bond had a big run-scoring single for the Silver Sox in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Ambrose Randall and stroked the single to center. It was his 136th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Silver Sox ahead, 2-0.
"I thought we played a nice game," Maskell told the Chicago Daily. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
