Victory Pushes Shredders Record to 66-37
|
The Hollywood Shredders handed the Boston Patriots a loss at The Hollywood Bowl. The final score was 9-5. Ramón Rodríguez was named player of the game for Hollywood. In addition to his 2 singles and 1 home run, he scored 2 runs and drove in 1. He also added 1 walk. Tony Alfonso picked up the win with 5.2 innings of work. He allowed 5 earned runs on 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 8. On the season, he is now 7-2. The Shredders have an impressive 66-37 record.
James Hemwick had a big 2-run single for the Shredders in the bottom of the third inning. With Hollywood leading 4-3 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Firpo Marberry and stroked the single to center. It was his 95th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Shredders ahead, 6-3.
In postgame comments to the Hollywood Gazette, Hemwick said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
