The Columbia River Rats topped the Mt. Vernon Bulls, 12-7, with youngster Félix Ronchi playing a key role. Ronchi went 2 for 5 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 for the River Rats in the win. Columbia reliever Sammy Reed got the win, raising his record to 3-0. Ralph Dunn was tagged with the loss. Columbia is now 24-33, Mt. Vernon 21-36.

Columbia used the timely hitting of Jeff McNeice to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put the River Rats on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Ronchi said after the game.
