Bulls Rally For Late Win Over Smokies
|
The Tennessee Smokies got a sterling performance from designated hitter Rodney McClellan, but the Bulls still prevailed, 7-3. McClellan was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The 'W' lifts Belleville's record to 29-27.
Belleville used the timely hitting of Spencer Wiggins to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Bulls on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Wiggins called the win "a collective effort."
