Rainbow Mermaids Rally For Late Win Over Evergreens
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids ushered in the 2039 season with a win versus the Portland Evergreens at Atlantica. The final score was 3-2. Starting Pitcher Eddie Kop, who finished 5th in the PL in wins with 10 last year, was named player of the game.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Northern Virginia designated hitter Manuel Carmona, facing Seong-hyeon Yi, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Rainbow Mermaids the 3-2 win.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Northern Virginia manager David Lister.
