Rainbow Mermaids Need Extra Frames to Get Past Voodoo
The New Orleans Voodoo got a superb performance from left fielder Weston Doyle, but the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids still won the game, 7-6. Doyle was named the player of the game despite the loss. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Northern Virginia improves to 66-34 with the win. They lead their division by 2˝ games.

Northern Virginia took a 7-6 lead on Mario Castillo's 119th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Castillo hit in the top of the tenth, left New Orleans pitcher Wu-ti Xuan visibly frustrated.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Castillo. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
