Evergreens Walk Off with Win
|
It was pandemonium at Evergreen Park after an exciting walk-off win.
The Portland Evergreens trumped the Hollywood Shredders, 4-3, at Evergreen Park. Portland left fielder Willie McGirt was named player of the game for his performance. He went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. Portland reliever Keith Rojas picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Mark Valle absorbed the loss.
Portland won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. With no outs and Mark Valle on the mound for Hollywood, second baseman Eugene Bowman hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Evergreens fans to their feet.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," McGirt told the Portland Gazette.
Portland has 3 straight wins, Hollywood 3 straight losses.
