BC Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Reefers
|
The Put-In-Bay BC and Cape Coral Reefers put on a pitchers' duel at Put-In-Bay Ballpark.
Put-In-Bay rode a fine outing from starter Alfredo Romo to victory over the Cape Coral Reefers at Put-In-Bay Ballpark. The final score was 2-0. Javier Benavides, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 13th save.
The Reefers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the BC going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 18-year old third baseman David Alcabú came to the plate. Alcabú hit a run-scoring double on a 0-1 fastball from Cape Coral hurler Ken Richmond. It was Alcabú's 7th double of the year.
"We'll savor this win," Alcabú told the Put-In-Bay Citizen, "then get ready for the next game."
The BC now have a mark of 18-18.
