Springfield withstood an impressive performance by Minnesota third baseman John Hawley to defeat the Loons, 7-6, at Springfield Stadium. Hawley was 3-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Springfield reliever César González picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Pao-tzu Shi absorbed the loss. The Shooters now have a record of 18-27.
Sean Cox, who is tied for 10th in the PAA in bases on balls with 21, contributed to the Springfield win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.
