Palladium Sox Best Screaming Eagles in Pitching Duel
|
The Virginia Palladium Sox went home winners at Mercer Island Grounds, thanks in large part to starter Wilson Valenzuela. Valenzuela silenced the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, enabling Virginia to grab the 1-0 win. In 8 innings, Valenzuela surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. Picking up the save was Doug Lane, his 8th.
Virginia third baseman Seung-hwan Pak helped his team get ahead early. In the top of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a sacrifice fly.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Valenzuela said.
The Palladium Sox now have a record of 20-9.
