Smokies Turn Back Kennesaw, 3-2
|
Tennessee and Kennesaw played a hard-fought contest at Jets Stadium.
Tennessee Smokies starter Clinton Repetto was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Kennesaw Jets, 3-2. Repetto, now 2-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs.
Steve Marwat had a big run-scoring double for the Smokies in the top of the fourth inning. With Tennessee leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Wesley van Klaveren and stroked the double to left. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Smokies ahead, 3-1.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Marwat said after the game.
The Smokies, now 12-6, have been red hot.
