Rainbow Mermaids Edge Portland in Pitching Duel

The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids picked up a win at Evergreen Park, knocking off the Portland Evergreens, 1-0. On the mound for Northern Virginia was right-hander Eddie Kop, who played a pivotal role in the win. At 59-30, the Rainbow Mermaids have a slim two-game lead in the Premier League.
Northern Virginia used the timely hitting of Ryder Ringor to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In comments to the Northern Virginia Times, Kop admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
