Blimps Get Win, Extend Streak to 4

The Akron Blimps beat the Asheville Highlanders, 6-3, at Goodyear Hanger Dome. The win was largely due to the efforts of designated hitter Bob Giles, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Buzzy Grossman, who threw 103 pitches over 7.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits. Akron has now won 4 straight, while the Highlanders have lost 3 in a row.
Giles had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-1 curveball from Jake Haynes, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Blimps a 6-3 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Giles.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Akron manager Barrett Abbott.
