Victory Over Nationals Takes Richland to 62-38
|
The Richland Rails picked up a win at Nationals Park, knocking off the Ottawa Nationals, 5-2. Starting pitcher Cameron Thoresen was an essential part of his team's success. Thoresen, now 9-3, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. Phil Burns, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities.
It could have been a different outcome for Richland, had it not been for Muoi Hoan, the 26-year old second baseman . Hoan contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Richland up, 2-0.
Thoresen said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
Ottawa has now lost 4 consecutive games.
