Miners Throttle Blimps, 6-1
|
The Akron Blimps got a sterling performance from pitcher Dan Burton, but the Miners still prevailed, 6-1. Burton was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball. Marquette, at 57-41, occupies second place in the Menard's AA.
Marquette took a 3-1 lead on Ángel García's 17th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which García hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Akron pitcher Hans Rager shaking his head.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Miners manager Christos Galpin, "I like our chances."
