Nationals Solve Highlanders, 5-3
|
The Ottawa Nationals bested the Asheville Highlanders by a score of 5-3, with third baseman Rey McSriff getting the main credit. On the day, McSriff went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Nationals. Ottawa reliever Lawrence Parsons picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. David Fuentes took the loss. Aki Sato earned the save, his 20th, for the Nationals.
Júlio Moreno aided the Ottawa cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder went 2 for 5 with a double.
"It was a good effort all around," said McSriff.
At 42-52, the Nationals are currently 9th in the Menard's AA.
