Atoms Need Extras to Top Highlanders
|
The Bethesda Atoms picked up a win at Asheville Park, knocking off the Asheville Highlanders, 4-3. On the mound for Bethesda was right-hander Yeow-whye Gao, who played a pivotal role in the win. Jason Galloway got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.1 innings. Their 39-43 record puts the Atoms 7th in the Menard's AA.
Bethesda used the clutch hitting of Sasha Orlovsky to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to give the Atoms the lead, 4-3. For the game, Orlovsky had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Bethesda manager Chris Johnson. "It's usually not just one thing."
