Tacoma pitcher José Espinosa gave the Highlanders all they could handle, but in the end, Asheville left Asheville Park with a 6-5 win. Espinosa allowed 2 earned runs on 4 hits over 6 innings. The Highlanders improved to 40-38.
The Fur Traders had been locked in a 5-5 tie with the Highlanders going into the bottom of the tenth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old right fielder Cédric Causse came to the plate. Causse hit a run-scoring single on a first pitch fastball from Tacoma hurler Álex Ortíz. It was Causse's 46th hit of the year.
"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager William Franklin.
