Blimps Suffer 12-7 Loss to Polar Bears
The inspired effort of Akron designated hitter José Álvarez was not enough to prevent a 12-7 loss to the Billings Polar Bears. Álvarez went 4-5 with 4 singles, while scoring 2 times. Billings reliever Larry McFadden picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Buzzy Grossman took the loss. With the victory, the Polar Bears record now stands at 34-40.

Wilbur Thomas, who is tied for 5th in the 3AA in bases on balls with 42, contributed to the Billings win with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 runs batted in.

Polar Bears manager Ronald Harmon wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
