Polar Bears Fall Short, 7-6, at Akron
|
The Akron Blimps overcame a good performance by Billings designated hitter Roberto Guerrero to knock off Billings, 7-6, at Goodyear Hanger Dome. Guerrero was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Mamadou Boutin, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 12th save. Akron is now 42-31.
Pedro Guerrero aided the Akron cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder was 2-5 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Akron manager Barrett Abbott.
