The New Orleans Voodoo got a superb performance from pitcher Markus Widner, but the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids still won the game, 2-1. Widner was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball. Eddie Kop got the win, improving to 9-2. He worked 8 innings, giving up 1 run on 9 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. Yoriyoshi Sugimoto notched his 5th save in 5 chances.

The Rainbow Mermaids grabbed the lead in the bottom of the sixth. With two out, Rob Brooks hit a solo home run off Markus Widner, putting Northern Virginia in front, 2-0. For Brooks, it was his 13th home run of the season.

"I was a little disappointed," said New Orleans manager Chase Sims. "We could've and should've scored more runs."

The Rainbow Mermaids have an impressive 51-27 record.
