Fur Traders Trounce Atoms, 10-3
|
The Tacoma Fur Traders knocked off the Bethesda Atoms, 10-3, at Ballpark of Tacoma. Elmer Kent, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Tacoma won. The third baseman was 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Jesús Cruz earned the win to go to 5-2. He allowed 3 earned runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Tacoma has now won 3 straight, while the Atoms have lost 3 in a row.
Tacoma grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Kent, who is tied for 9th in the 3AA in RBI with 31, hit a run-scoring single. His 51st hit of the season put the Fur Traders out in front, 4-3.
