Victory Pushes Rails Record to 28-14
|
Cameron Thoresen pitched a gem to lead Richland to a 5-1 victory over the Akron Blimps. Thoresen, now 6-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Richland leads the Menard's AA by 2½ games.
Richland left fielder Hui-ying Sun contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball into right field for a 2-run double. It was his 7th double of the season and put the Rails ahead, 5-1.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Richland manager Fernando Mendoza. "It's usually not just one thing."
