Weston Doyle did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the New Orleans Voodoo from losing, 5-4, to the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids at Atlantica. Doyle was 3-4 with 2 home runs. Miguel Rubia picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 4 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 3-2. Brewster Warble earned his 16th save in 21 tries.

The Rainbow Mermaids grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fifth. With two out, Tim Stinson, who is tied for 7th in the PL in doubles with 20, hit a 2-run home run off Gary Ashley, putting Northern Virginia in front, 5-4. For Stinson, it was his 7th home run of the season.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Stinson.

The Rainbow Mermaids have an impressive 49-27 record.
